Small Site Improvements
Posted By admin On 9th April 2010
Hi All,
I’ve been busy throwing together a few site improvements for the benefit of all the users who happen across our little space in the world wide web.
First off, I’m quite anti-IE6 due to alot of problems that it brings about in the design and development world of websites & applications.
Mainly due to time constraints (i.e. I had no time to design an entire css document specifically for IE6) I used a nifty IE6 blocker plugin which automatically re-directed users to a warning page when they tried to access our site using the aforementioned browser version combo.
Now that I have a little more time on my hands between .NET training & our current software updates, it was decided that IE6 users should have access to our site. And thus began my epic journey into IE6 styling (I say epic purely because the star wars theme tune is blaring in the background out of our project manager’s spotify account).
After approximately 2 days of tweaking, fiddling and general hair loss through enragement I had done it. A somewhat decent attempt at making our site compatible with the non-existent alpha transparency support of IE6, amongst other niggles that continue to haunt me about this relic of a browser.
The changes have been uploaded, and I’m fairly satisfied with the results – although it is far from perfect, it will alas, do for now.
Other changes that I’ve incorporated are:
- CSS Dropdown menu for downloads
- Updated Case Studies Content (Thanks to our Psychologist for the new case studies!)
- Categories Sidebar for posts, and blogs page
- Updated Blog main page, with navigation for older & newer posts.
- Other browser specific CSS tweaks.
My next site update will include an overhaul of the blog section in both modern browsers and IE6.
I hope you enjoy the new changes & have a good weekend.
Dan.
